Cormac Neeson talks about the moment he and his wife discovered that his son had Down syndrome in support of Down syndrome week. In an interview with BT magazine, Cormac says the moment he discovered his son had Down syndrome was “earthshattering”. He went on to say that his wife and he had to let go of what they considered a normal family was going to be and embrace their new way of normal.
Speaking during world Down syndrome week, Cormac went on to say that it’s not the initial reaction that matters but it’s what happens after the news that counts.Was not diagnosed with Down syndrome until two weeks after his birth. The singer for the rock band The Answer said that “You have this notion in your head when you have a kid. It’s going to pan out kind of how you’ve always imagined. You just got to let go of that notion. That can throw your head in a bit of a spin, you are just not ready to deal with it. You have to reassess and reevaluate. It’s a human reaction, but it’s what happens after that that matters”.
